Norman is awash with high-tech companies, many of them located just a few miles off Highway 9. A partial listing of Norman's high-tech enterprises, those on property fronting the eastern half of the newly designated Oklahoma Technology Corridor:

 

Ø      Xyant Technology, Inc., 2600 Van Buren

Xyant works with companies to improve productivity of information technology services. The company provides technical consultants for short-term contracting and permanent replacements for IT staffing worldwide.

 

Ø      OU Research Campus, Highway 9 and Jenkins Ave.

Anchored by the National Weather Center and the Stephenson Research and Technology Center supporting interdisciplinary research and education. Another primary occupant is the North America headquarters of Weathernews Americas, the world's largest private weather enterprise supplying custom weather forecasts for weather-dependent companies.

 

Ø      Astellas Pharma Technologies, Inc., 3300 Marshall Ave.

Astellas Pharma specializes in developing and manufacturing both prescription and over-the-counter drugs for worldwide distribution. In 2003 the company relocated its research and development operations from Palo Alto, Calif. to Norman, opening and staffing a 61,000-square-foot research center here.

 

Ø      Hitachi Computer Products, Inc., 1800 E. Imhoff Road

Hitachi provides custom research, development and manufacturing services for electronics companies and builds a major portion of the Hitachi         data storage products sold in the U.S. and throughout the world.

 

Ø      U.S. Postal Service National Center for Employee Development, 2701 E. Imhoff Road

The NCED is a high-tech training center for postal workers and technicians from private companies. It provides training in such specialties as heating and air conditioning systems; environmental health and safety; automotive maintenance; programmable logic controllers; networking technology and office computer software.

 

Ø      Immuno-Mycologics, Inc., NEDC Norman Business Park

"IMMY" produces fungal diagnostic products and custom products for industry and research, including affinity and chemically purified antigens and antibodies.

 

Ø      Albon Manufacturing LLC, NEDC Norman Business Park

Albon Engineering -- Manufacturing designs and manufactures engine components for automotive manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Ford, New Holland, Lotus, Nissan, Perkins and Volvo.

 

In addition, Norman has a business incubator for high-tech enterprises at 710 Asp on Campus Corner. The emerging Technology entrepreneurial center (eTec) is a 10,000-square-foot "business accelerator" with lab and office space. Sponsored and managed by the Norman Economic Development Coalition, eTec helps new technology companies grow more quickly by providing experts, materials and advisors to help owners "quick start" their businesses.
