NORMAN, Okla. – Software Development Technologies (SDT) President and CEO, Edward Kit, announced today that his company would be opening a high tech services office in Norman. SDT will be leasing 5,000 square feet of space in the former Saxon Headquarters building, with plans to expand to 25, 000 square feet over the next 3 to 5 years. SDT will make a formal announcement of relocation and host a reception at its new office in the upcoming weeks.

“We’re very excited to be in Oklahoma.” Kit said. “SDT evaluated a dozen US urban areas and chose Norman, OK due to its high availability of technically trained resources, central location and ease of doing business.  Cities such as Norman are becoming increasingly popular as businesses re-think their offshore decisions, and recognize that such U.S. locations provide a low-cost and more effective solution for technical projects.”

Kit said he anticipates over 200 jobs will be created with an economic impact of nearly $9,000,000 annually for the city of Norman.  In addition to high paying jobs, Norman’s labor force will benefit from specialized training through the Moore Norman Technology Center (MNTC), Training for Industry Program.

SDT develops and markets the most comprehensive and effective software testing tools. The Norman facility will provide a critical component of its “RightSourcing” services offering; and in combination with its India operation, will offer 24/7 software development and test capability.  Employees will also create Quality Centers of Excellence for SDT’s Test Transformation clients.

Oklahoma Department of Commerce Director of Business Recruiting Charles Kimbrough said, “SDT choosing Oklahoma represents a great opportunity for our entire state. We have a very attractive package and a strong workforce for the software development industry.”

SDT will qualify for the Quality Jobs Program, which allows establishments creating new jobs to receive an incentive to locate or expand in Oklahoma. Managed by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the program provides quarterly cash payments of up to 5 percent of new taxable payroll directly to a qualifying company, for up to ten years.

“SDT is exactly the type of company Norman needs to create the jobs of the future for our citizens.” NEDC Executive Director, Don Wood said. “We look forward to working with SDT president, Ed Kit, as Norman becomes the focus of future SDT growth.”

Kit, a 25-year industry veteran, well-known test expert, author and keynote speaker, founded the company in 1992. As the company’s president and CEO, Kit has successfully guided the company in its effort to help customers implement software test best practices, tools and methodologies and ultimately improve their return on investment for software development.

Today, SDT’s management team is a list of “who’s who” experts, representing decades of software development and test experience; and have established relationships with multiple Fortune 500 companies in industries ranging from manufacturing to financial services and telecommunications.

“SDT will be a great addition to our business community and will provide quality jobs for our citizens.” City of Norman Mayor, Harold Haralson said. “I appreciate the job NEDC and Don Wood have done in recruiting SDT and this is an excellent example of the return our citizens receive from their investment of NEDC through the City of Norman.”

Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce & Tourism Kathy Taylor said. “SDT is the type of business Oklahoma wants to continue to attract, and we are excited to have SDT join the Oklahoma business community.”

“The Norman Economic Development Coalition has been instrumental in the selection of Norman for our project.” Kit said. “Without their involvement, in all likelihood, this project would have been in another community.”
