Share Fair Showcase Library’s Summer Activities

The Norman Share Fair will showcase summer activities for young people in the community.

“I think Norman is the ultimate village for raising children, ”said Susan Lura, children’s librarian at the Norman Public Library. “ And if you don’t believe me, come to the Share Fair to see how many Norman agencies and organizations are working together to support children and families in our community.”

 

The annual Norman Share Fair will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. June 3 in the Lowry Room of the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Activities are planned for children who attend.

 

More than 30 local organizations, including museums, zoos, art centers, parks and camps, government agencies, state and community service organizations, as well as local educational and recreational businesses, will be represented with booths at the Share Fair, showcasing summer activities for yond people in the community.

 

Scheduled to participate in the Share Fair are representatives from American Red Cross, Attachment Parenting International of Norman, Barnes and Noble booksellers, Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, Borders Book & Music, Brook Mays Music Company/Charlie Rayl, CART, Cimarron Circuit Opera Company, Cleveland County Health Department, Cleveland County YMCA, Firehouse Art Center, Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, Girl Scouts, Gymboree Play and Music, Hastings Books Music and Video, Karate for Kids/ATA Black Belt Academy, Lake Thunderbird State Park, Little River Zoo, Mom’s Clubs of Norman, Moore-Norman Technology Center, Murray Case Sells Swim Complex, Neighborhood Centers, Norman Parks and Recreation, Norman Regional Hospital, Oklahoma State Extension, OU Sooner Flight Academy, OU Pre-collegiate program, OU Senior Adult Services, Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum or Natural History, Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, Sooner Bowling Center, Sooner Theatre, Camp Broadway at the Sooner, Success by Six, Thunderbird Riding Stables, Toys R Us, and, of course, the Norman Public Library of the Pioneer Library System.

 

The Share Fair also is the first opportunity for boys and girls to set their summer readings goals and sign up for the Dragons, Dream and Daring Deeds Summer Reading Program for children ages 5-12. Summer reading sign-up begins at the Share Fair and continues through July 15. Summer readings medallions are awarded until the first day of school.
