medical delays Health care professionals may be
at odds about some issues, but on one topic they agree: The waiting room is
an obstacle course. Agi Lurtz and Mary Stephens have introduced a Web-based
medical service, www.onlinemedsource.org,
that could empty waiting rooms much faster and give patients better access to
health care. The new service enables patients to complete forms, find answers
to basic questions, get free access to medical resources and even view videos
of actual procedures before seeing a doctor or dentist. Courtesy

all-time high More students than ever are
attending the University of Oklahoma, on the Norman campus and elsewhere. OU President David Boren told
the OU Board of Regents that 31,134 people are enrolled this fall, including
24,569 on the Norman campus. Both are all-time highs. The figures eclipsed

IRaDS Adds First Value-Added Reseller Client Integrated Radar Data Services (IRaDS), a program
of The University of Oklahoma and the leading top-tier provider of NEXRAD
Level-II weather radar data transmission, has signed its first value-added
reseller master agreement with Digital RF Technology of Corsicana, Texas. The
agreement allows Digital RF Technology to market top-tier data feeds
originating from IRaDS in conjunction with Digital RF Technology's fast

development Over the past several weeks, Norman's economic development efforts have been thrust into the spotlight as a result of the city's friendly competition with Oklahoma City to lure the customer care center that Dell Computer intends to build somewhere in the metro area. According to Don Wood, executive director of the Norman Economic Development Coalition, there are some interesting developments that are taking place in the suburb not just in terms of real estate opportunities, but with the city's corporate base as well. Making the grade The 2005 National Merit
Scholarship semifinalists were announced September 15, 2004, and 24 area
students made the cut. The National Merit Scholarship Program, entering its
50th year, named 16,000 high school seniors across the nation
still in contention for 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards estimated to be worth
$33.9 million. The semifinalists were selected from a pool of 1.3 million

OG&E Wind Power
Program Marks 1-Year Anniversary
Just one year after launching its wind power
program, nearly 9,000 OG&E Electric Services customers have subscribed.
About one-third of the subscribers have 100 percent of their electricity
generated by wind, making OG&E's program one of the top in the country.
Oklahoma is rated the eighth best wind resource in the nation, and OG&E
is recognized as operating one of the lowest customer cost programs.

Oklahoma 's Average Act Score Increases With Class
Of 2004: Minority Subgroups' Scores Improve And Surpass National Averages State Superintendent Sandy Garrett said Oklahoma 's
average ACT college-entrance exam score increased from 20.5 to 20.6 with the
Class of 2004. This year, almost 72 percent of 2004 graduates in Oklahoma
took the $28 voluntary test (compared to a projected 40 percent nationally)
and maintained the ACT Southwest Region's highest average score. Click here to read the full story Business development course offered by the Community Action
Agency
The Community Action Agency is currently enrolling for the Small
Business Training Course. This is a five-week course held at South Oklahoma
City Chamber of Commerce Oct. 4 – Nov. 3 on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

The
University of Oklahoma received $210 million from outside sources for
research in fiscal year 2004, marking the first time OU crossed the $200
million mark in a year for research programs. Research programs in weather,
genomics, chemistry, health sciences and nanosciences have grown the most in
recent years, and they have led to the construction of OU’s Research Campus

Vogt Named NOAA Radar
Operations Center Director Richard
Vogt was recently appointed director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration’s NEXRAD Radar Operations Center (ROC) in Norman, Okla. NOAA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The ROC provides centralized, life-cycle support to the national network of
166 WSR-88D NEXRAD radars located throughout the United States and selected
